Head Coach:

 

John Papuni has been coaching swimmers for 10 years. He draws from his experience as a competitive swimmer and worked as the assistant coach to Ken Wood at Redcliffe Leagues Lawnton for 3 years.

 

John left Redcliffe in 2007 to take over as the head coach of the Nerang Aquatic Centre. The squad has been growing substantially ever since and the club has a very strong and successful swim team.

 

John provides an professional and friendly environment for swimmers that will enable them to achieve their individual goals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coaches:

 

Kate Brookes-Peterson (Junior Squad) comes with a wealth of experience. A representative of New Zealand and Australia in Open Water Swimming for the last 6 years and the only dual medallist for Australia at the same Open Water World Championships. Kate also finished 8th in the 5km and 5th in her very impressive debut swim, the 25km at the Open Water World Championships in Spain in May 2008.

Kate has coached along side John Papuni at Redcliffe Leagues Lawnton for 3 years and had a very successful junior squad there before joining the Nerang Team.

 

Amy Papuni (Seals and Rainbow Fish) has a National Age and Open swimming background where she was highly ranked in her age group. Being a former swimmer of John in New Zealand, Amy comes with a lot of experience in that particular style of coaching.

 

 

Swim Gear:

Squad swimmers are required to bring:

  • Full length fins
  • Kickboard
  • Finger paddles
  • Pullbuoy
