Club Nights

Swimmers Gradings for Club Nights

Returning Club members will begin the new season in the grade they finished the previous season in.

Members who have been involved with another club previously and who have swum at either Regional, State or National level may submit their times to the Head coach who will grade each stroke accordingly.

New members who have not been involved in Club Night before will start in 'C' grade for all strokes.

Gradings are as follows:
C Grade B Grade A Grade
25m events 50m events 100, 200, 400 and 800m events

When a swimmer reaches the required time to swim in the next grade up, it will be noted on that nights' results and the swimmer will be expected to swim in the higher grade at all subsequent club nights.

Whilst initially this may seem quite difficult, be encouraged to perservere as the benefits will soon become evident.

If you have concerns about your child swimming up a grade, please discuss the matter with your child's coach who will advise you of the best plan of attack with regards to which events to nominate for.

If an "A" grade swimmer nominates to swim either a 200, 400, or 800m event, they are able to swim one (1) 50m event on the same night. John's Senior squad are required to swim 4 or 5 events per Club Night. The one (1) 50m event rule still applies.

Please note the following:

  • “Open” events are available to all competitors irrespective of gradings.
  • 400 & 800 meter events need to be approved by John before submitting nominations.
  • Swimmers in 'A' grade for all strokes can only swim a 50m event if they are also swimming a 200, 400 or 800m event that night.
  • All gradings are updated fortnightly so please check if you are unsure which grade you are in or if you think you may have upgraded.
  • Results are posted on the notice board for 2 weeks only so please be sure to take note of any times you may want before they are taken down.
